Russia Intensifies Airstrikes on Major Ukrainian Cities

Last night, Russia launched large-scale airstrikes on major Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Poltava Oblast, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia. Over 600 drones and more than 70 missiles were used in these attacks, causing significant damage. Russia aims to break the morale of the Ukrainian civilian population, marking the beginning of an ongoing air campaign against Ukrainian civilian centers, day and night.

Ukraine Targets Russian Supply Lines and Air Defense Systems

In response to Russia's civilian attacks, Ukraine has been actively targeting Russian supply routes. The Sky Data Forensics team, in collaboration with the Institute for War Reporting, identified a series of attacks on Russian logistics routes leading to Crimea. Specifically, the southern supply route from Russia to Crimea and northern front-line support routes have been heavily targeted. These attacks aim to impede Russian front-line supplies, placing significant pressure on their forces. Additionally, Ukraine is attacking Russian air defense systems along the front line and within Crimea to diminish the Russian Air Force's glide bomb capabilities and leave Crimea vulnerable to further attacks.

Russia Faces Deepening Manpower Recruitment Challenges

Russia is reportedly struggling with troop recruitment. The Russian Ministry of Defense is now offering substantial financial incentives to attract unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operators. A monthly salary of 220,000 rubles (approximately £2,000) is more than double the average Russian wage. Additional benefits include combat veteran status, free medical treatment and rehabilitation, and priority enrollment for children in kindergartens and schools. Despite these offers, Russia is recruiting fewer than 1,000 men daily while losing more than 1,200 to 1,300 troops daily due to casualties, exacerbating front-line manpower shortages. Thus, Russia is encountering significant difficulties in both troop recruitment and logistical support, providing an unexpected advantage to Ukraine.
