Massive Airstrikes Across Ukraine and Casualties
Russian forces launched a large-scale attack on various parts of Ukraine in the early hours of June 2. According to Ukrainian authorities, over 650 drones and more than 70 missiles were used in the assault. In the capital, Kyiv, residential complexes and medical facilities were targeted, leading to 4 deaths and 65 injuries. Additionally, in eastern Dnipro, 8 people, including a young child, were killed. Further casualties were reported in other regions, bringing the total to 12 dead and over 100 injured.
Russian Ministry of Defense Claims 'Retaliation'
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated on June 2 that these extensive airstrikes were 'retaliation' for a previous attack by Ukrainian forces on a student dormitory in the Luhansk region. The ministry explained that it conducted large-scale attacks on defense industry and military targets across Ukraine, emphasizing that these actions were a response to Ukraine's prior strikes.
