Russian forces launched a large-scale attack on various parts of Ukraine in the early hours of June 2. According to Ukrainian authorities, over 650 drones and more than 70 missiles were used in the assault. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated on June 2 that these extensive airstrikes were 'retaliation' for a previous attack by Ukrainian forces on a student dormitory in the Luhansk region. The ministry explained that it conducted large-scale attacks on defense industry and military targets across Ukraine, emphasizing that these actions were a response to Ukraine's prior strikes.
