Indian Ship Sinks Off Oman Coast, Suspected Drone Strike
Indian Vessel Sinks Off Oman Coast
An Indian cargo ship, the Haji Ali, registered in Gujarat, India, sank off the coast of Oman early Wednesday following a suspected drone strike. Officials reported that the vessel, traveling from Somalia to Sharjah with livestock, was attacked near Limah, off Oman's northern coast. The strike occurred around 3:30 a.m. and is believed to have been caused by an unidentified explosive object, possibly a drone or missile.
India Condemns Attack Amid Regional Concerns
The impact of the strike triggered a fire on board, leading to the vessel losing stability and eventually sinking. Fortunately, all 14 Indian crew members were safely rescued. This incident occurred while Iran's foreign minister was in New Delhi for the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Summit. India's Ministry of External Affairs condemned the attack as “unacceptable” and expressed significant concern over the persistent threats to commercial shipping in the region.
