Police Convoy Vehicle Overturns on Joban Expressway
Around noon on April 5, an accident involving a single bus was reported near the Tomobe JCT on the southbound Joban Expressway in Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture. According to police and fire department officials, the overturned vehicle was a convoy bus belonging to the Nara Prefectural Police. It is believed to have overturned while attempting to avoid another vehicle entering its lane.
Injuries and Mission of the Convoy
A total of 13 police officers were on board the overturned convoy vehicle, and several of them sustained injuries, including abrasions. The convoy was reportedly en route from Nara Prefecture to provide security support for the Imperial Family's visit to Fukushima. Authorities are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
