Multi-Car Pileup in Yokohama's Asahi Ward
Around noon on May 21st, a passenger car crashed into a line of vehicles stopped in traffic on a prefectural road in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, leading to an 8-car pileup. According to the police, an emergency call was received around 12:30 PM reporting an accident involving "about four passenger cars." However, on-site investigation revealed that a total of eight vehicles were involved in the collision.
Five Injured, Driver Flees as Police Investigate Hit-and-Run
As a result of the accident, five individuals—four men aged between 20s and 70s, and one woman—were transported to the hospital. Fortunately, all sustained minor injuries and were conscious. However, the driver of the car that caused the accident abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled. Police are now investigating the incident as a hit-and-run case and are actively searching for the driver.
