Typhoon No. 6 Approaching Kanto Tonight to Tomorrow Morning, Linear Rainband Risk
Typhoon No. 6 Path and Rainfall Forecast
Typhoon No. 6 is currently located south of Kyushu and is expected to gradually accelerate northeastward along the Pacific coast from tonight into tomorrow morning. By noon tomorrow (Wednesday), it is predicted to pass through the Izu Islands south of Kanto, with a possibility of making landfall on the Kii Peninsula. This will bring intense rain and thunderstorms across Japan.
Of particular concern is the potential for linear rainbands to form, with Miyazaki facing risk until 6 PM today, and regions from Kochi to Shizuoka for up to 9 hours, and Mie for up to 12 hours. The formation of linear rainbands can rapidly increase the risk of landslides and river flooding, necessitating extreme caution. Forecasted rainfall until tomorrow evening includes 350mm for the Tokai region, 300mm for Kinki and Kanto-Koshin, 250mm for Shikoku, and 100mm for Tohoku and Northern Kyushu.
Kanto Region's Tomorrow Weather and Temperature Outlook
The Kanto region is expected to experience rain starting tonight, with heavy rain and strong winds forecast for tomorrow morning. Major cities like Shibuya, Tokyo, are likely to see rain early in the morning, requiring thorough typhoon preparedness, including avoiding unnecessary outings. Tomorrow's predicted minimum temperatures range from 17 to 19 degrees Celsius, with daytime high temperatures remaining below average, such as Mito at 19°C, Tokyo at 21°C, Yokohama at 24°C, and Chiba at 25°C.
