Trump's 'Weaponization' Fund on Hold
Donald Trump's US$1.8 billion fund, intended to compensate victims of alleged government “weaponization,” has been put on hold. Two sources familiar with the plan confirmed the development on Monday. The fund was designed to pay individuals who claimed to have been victims of government power abuse.
Fund Originated from Justice Department Settlement
The fund emerged from a legal settlement between Trump and the Justice Department. This agreement resolved an unprecedented lawsuit where the former president had sued the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for US$10 billion, alleging mishandling of his tax records. The US$1.776 billion was specifically earmarked to compensate people who claimed to have been affected by governmental overreach.
