Ho Chi Minh City Drives AI Education for All Citizens

Ho Chi Minh City's Department of Science and Technology has announced a major campaign to bring artificial intelligence (AI) applications to 2 million residents, or 15% of the city's population, by 2030. This initiative embodies a 'digital literacy movement' aimed at enhancing the adaptability and digital thinking capabilities of citizens. The free program involves collaboration with leading global tech companies such as Google, AMD, and design platform Canva, which are developing visually intuitive and easy-to-understand learning materials.

Goals for AI Dissemination and Training

The immediate goal for the 2026-2027 launch phase is to help at least 100,000 individuals acquire basic AI skills annually, combining in-person and online classes. The program aims for 80% of participants to immediately apply specific tools to optimize their work and improve their lives after course completion. Ho Chi Minh City is also building a network of grassroots digital technology teams across all 168 districts to guide residents in effectively using digital platforms in daily life, alongside raising awareness about information security and preventing high-tech fraud. Concurrently, AI is being integrated into workplaces and educational systems, forming a modern data-driven governance model.
