Philippines Building Collapse Traps Workers, 19 Feared Missing
Building Collapse in Angeles City Sparks Rescue Effort
Emergency crews in the Philippines are racing against time after a nine-story building under construction collapsed in Angeles City, about 80 kilometers north of Manila. Authorities fear several workers may still be trapped beneath massive slabs of concrete and twisted metal debris. Initial reports suggest 24 people have been pulled out alive from the rubble, while two others were rescued from a nearby apartment-style hotel damaged in the same collapse.
Ongoing Search and Investigation
Officials stated that the unfinished concrete structure gave way in the early hours of Sunday morning, trapping workers under piles of rubble. Rescue teams observed that walls and scaffoldings suddenly buckled, sending huge chunks of concrete crashing down onto the site and nearby structures. All those rescued are currently in stable condition, and the cause of the collapse remains unclear. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
