THEi Launches AI-Integrated Degrees to Drive Industrial Transformation
AI Applied to Humanities and Business Management
Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping various fields including humanities and arts, business management, and transportation logistics. Proficiency in AI applications has become an essential skill in the future job market. In response to this market demand, the Hong Kong Institute of Higher Education and Technology (THEi) will introduce self-financed bachelor's degree programs with AI elements in the 2026/27 academic year. The new programs include 'Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music Technology', 'Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Artificial Intelligence and Business Management', and 'Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electric Vehicle Design and Technology', aiming to cultivate professionals equipped with cutting-edge AI application capabilities and humanitarian concern.
Specialized Programs for Future Industrial Talent
The 'Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music Technology' program focuses on three professional areas: game music design, contemporary music composition, and film scoring. Through practical learning integrated with advanced technologies like AI and augmented/virtual reality (AR/VR), students will master audio engineering and sound design while enhancing their artistic creativity and technological innovation. Dr. Tang Lok-yin emphasized a practical exercise where students used AI to transform kitchen sounds into music, illustrating that everyday sounds can be a source of creation. The 'Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Artificial Intelligence and Business Management' program aims to equip students with practical skills in AI-driven business analysis, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and digital operations. This program prepares experts for corporate digital transformation, offering career paths as AI application specialists, strategy and transformation analysts, and digital officers. In line with the Hong Kong government's push for green and new energy transportation, the 'Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electric Vehicle Design and Technology' program will also be launched to meet the growing demand for professionals in the electric vehicle sector.
