Vietnam hosted the final round of the 2025-2026 Vietnam STEM, AI, and Robotics Championship (VSAR) on May 10, 2026, at the National Innovation Center. Approximately 3,000 students from 29 provinces and cities across the country participated in the event, co-organized by Tien Phong Newspaper, the Central Youth Union, the National Innovation Center, and Hanoi University of Science and Technology. The competition, which began in November 2025 with the theme 'Energy for the Future,' aims to foster the innovative spirit and scientific and technological capabilities of the younger generation. The broad participation of students from diverse regions and educational backgrounds highlighted the importance of STEM, AI, and robotics education.
AI Emerges as a National Strategic Asset and Commercialization Accelerates
Artificial intelligence (AI) is evolving beyond a mere tool to become a national strategic asset, on par with nuclear weapons or aircraft carriers. Maeil Business Newspaper reported that an era has dawned where advanced AI models, such as Anthropic's 'Claude Mythos,' determine national competitiveness. Amid this trend, ByteDance's 'Doubao' (豆包), one of China's leading AI models, recently announced its transition to a paid subscription service, signaling the commercialization phase of the AI large model market. 'Doubao' will offer paid services focusing on complex tasks like PPT generation, data analysis, and video production, stating that increased computing resources required for advanced AI capabilities make monetization necessary.
