Crane Overturns, 65-Year-Old Man Dies
Around 8 AM today, a crane overturned in Omuta City, Fukuoka Prefecture. As a result of the accident, Michihiro Aoki (65), a company executive working nearby, was pinned by two steel plates (approximately 600kg) that fell from the crane. He was transported to a hospital but was confirmed deceased. The accident occurred at a planned site for large battery installation, where the crane was lifting about 17 tons of steel weights to stabilize its body.
Outrigger Deformation Identified
Police investigation revealed that one of the crane's outriggers, designed to prevent overturning, had sunk into the ground. Police suspect that the crane lost balance and overturned due to the immense weight, and they are currently conducting a detailed investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
