Zelenskyy: Ukraine Cannot Wait for Iran War to End
Iran Conflict Diverting Attention from Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy admitted in an interview with CNN that the ongoing war in Iran is diverting international attention from Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He stated that it would be a "great risk" to believe that efforts to end the conflict in Ukraine could not resume until the Iran conflict concludes. He also described it as a "challenge" that the United States is leading negotiations for both the Iran and Ukraine wars simultaneously.
Delayed Weapon Supplies and Secured Financial Aid
President Zelenskyy noted that the war in Iran is delaying the supply of key weapons to Ukraine, particularly ballistic missile interceptors. He pointed out that Ukraine is not receiving sufficient supplies due to the United States' limited production capacity. Meanwhile, the European Union (EU) has finally approved a 90 billion euro (approximately 16.8 trillion yen) loan for Ukraine. Zelenskyy emphasized that securing these funds is a "life-and-death issue" for Ukraine, explaining that a lack of funding is hindering their ability to meet weapon production targets. He added that Ukraine currently produces around 1,000 drone interceptors per day but has the potential to produce 2,000.
