This warning indicates that there is a higher-than-usual possibility of a giant earthquake along the Chishima Trench and Japan Trench.
Targeted Areas and Preparedness Call
The warning applies to 182 municipalities stretching from Hokkaido to Chiba Prefecture. The JMA urged residents in these areas to reconfirm their daily preparations for earthquakes.
