Kerry Predicts 'Iran War' to End in Negotiation, Cites 2015 Model
Iran War Predicted to End Through Negotiation
Former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry predicted on April 15 (local time) that the Iran war is likely to end with a negotiated settlement. According to the U.S. online media outlet Semafor, Kerry, who co-chairs Galvanize, stated at the Semafor World Economic event in Washington D.C. that the United States and Iran "will reach an agreement."
2015 Nuclear Deal Model Cited, Iran's Resistance Noted
Kerry mentioned that while the exact timing and method are unclear, it would "not be significantly different from the existing agreement," referring to the 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA) signed between Iran and six major powers during former President Barack Obama's administration as a likely model. He noted that the current Iranian leadership shows a stronger will to resist than previous leaderships and is unwilling to surrender. However, he anticipated that U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to blockade the Strait of Hormuz could bring Iran back to the negotiation table.
