Iran Reports 'Memorandum' with US: Hormuz Strait Blockade Lifted, Nuclear Talks Set
Iranian Media Reports on 'Memorandum' with US
On the 24th, Iranian state media, citing Tasnim News Agency close to the Revolutionary Guard Corps, reported on the content of a memorandum being coordinated between Iran and the United States to end hostilities. The memorandum includes lifting the Hormuz Strait blockade within 30 days and setting a 60-day negotiation period for Iran's nuclear issues. Iran denied some reports claiming it promised to abandon enriched uranium, stating that the nuclear issue would be entrusted to negotiations after an agreement is reached.
Sanctions Relief and Negotiation Progress
The memorandum also reportedly stipulates that during the negotiation period, the US would ease sanctions and permit Iran's oil sales. However, it is also reported that differences of opinion remain on some items. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump stated on social media on the 24th that "negotiations are proceeding in an orderly and constructive manner" and that he had "instructed the American delegation not to rush into a deal." News website Axios, citing a US government official, reported that an agreement with Iran could take several more days.
