Terror Attack in Borno State
The Nigerian military announced on Monday that a terrorist attack occurred in Monguno, Borno State. Troops from the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) successfully repelled the attack, forcing the terrorists to retreat. However, one commanding officer and six other soldiers were killed during the incident.
Casualties and Military Response
According to a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Usman, the tragedy struck shortly after the encounter. The commanding officer courageously moved to the front line to assess the situation and encountered an improvised explosive device (IED), which severely affected his vehicle. This led to his death alongside six other gallant personnel, the military said. The troops maintained control of the area and are conducting further operations.
