Eyewitness Modu Bukar described scenes of panic as the blasts unfolded, stating that everyone immediately started running in fear. He explained that one explosion occurred near the post office, followed by another as people were still fleeing.

Extensive Casualties Reported

Residents acted as first responders, helping to evacuate victims to nearby medical facilities, including the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital. Modu Bukar stated that the number of injured and deceased was so large that an exact figure could not be estimated. Another eyewitness, Mala Mohammed, reported seeing at least ten bodies on the ground but could not bear to count them one by one, adding that the number of injured people was even higher.

Investigations Underway Amid Heightened Concerns

Authorities have launched investigations and security forces are tightening controls across Maiduguri. Concerns are growing that the fragile peace in the region may be unraveling, prompting heightened vigilance from security forces to prevent further violence.
