A shocking incident of family violence occurred in Angono, Rizal, Philippines, on Saturday morning (April 4). A 45-year-old woman was fatally stabbed in the neck by her husband inside their home in a subdivision in Barangay Mahabang Parang. Their 15-year-old eldest son was also critically wounded after being stabbed multiple times by his father. Angono Police responded to the scene and confirmed the woman's death. The suspect, her husband, was found injured in the bathroom, while the eldest son managed to escape and call for help.
Suspect's Gambling Debts Identified as Potential Motive
Police recovered a kitchen knife believed to be the weapon used in the crime. According to PLTCOL Ariel Azurin, Chief of Angono MPS, the house was silent upon the officers' arrival, with no response from inside. Upon gaining entry, police found the husband in the bathroom, bleeding and collapsed. Azurin stated that based on relatives' testimonies, the suspect had accumulated substantial online gambling debts, which is believed to be a major contributing factor to the crime. Police plan to conduct further investigations and a drug test once the suspect's condition stabilizes. The husband underwent surgery and is currently recovering in the hospital, facing charges of parricide, frustrated parricide, and attempted parricide.
