At least eight women were killed and over a dozen injured in a stampede at the Maa Sheetla Temple in Nalanda district, Bihar, India. The incident occurred during a crowded religious gathering in Maghra village near Bihar Sharif. A large number of devotees had rushed to offer prayers on the last Tuesday of the Hindu month of Chaitra, leading to the chaotic situation and tragic loss of life.
Prime Minister Offers Condolences and Compensation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep pain over the mishap. He extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones and offered prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured. The Prime Minister announced a compensation of 2 lakh rupees from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund to the families of the deceased, and 50,000 rupees each to the injured individuals.
