Macron: 'Occupation and Colonization Cannot Ensure Security'
Lebanon's Message of Universalism
French President Emmanuel Macron spoke at the opening event of an exhibition dedicated to the Lebanese city of Byblos at the Arab World Institute in Paris. He addressed the current period of conflict between religions and escalating wars, noting that some seek to push towards war while others suggest security can only be guaranteed by invading a feared neighbor. Macron highlighted that in this context, Lebanon reminds us of the power of universalism.
International Law and the Possibility of Peace
President Macron stressed that nothing should take precedence over the message and power of international law, which holds the possibility of living in peace. He asserted that peace can only be built within this framework, ensuring the security of everyone in the region. He firmly stated that no occupation and no form of colonization, whether in the West Bank or anywhere else, is capable of ensuring the security of anybody.
