US Ultimatum to Iran Sparks Strong Retaliation Warning, Marking Turning Point in Middle East War
US Ultimatum Met with Iranian Defiance
Donald Trump, the US President, issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Iran, threatening to "obliterate" its power plants, starting with the largest, if Iran fails to fully open the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iran declared that there would be no compromise and vowed strong countermeasures. Simultaneously, the Trump administration has reportedly begun preparations for negotiations with Iran following the end of the conflict.
Iranian Leadership Warns of Retaliation
Iran has warned of military retaliation through various channels in response to the US ultimatum. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, stated that if Iran's power plants or infrastructure are attacked, key infrastructure, energy, and oil facilities across the entire Middle East region would be destroyed. He also warned of a prolonged rise in oil prices. Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for the Iranian Central Military Headquarters, echoed this stance, stating that if the US threat is carried out, the Strait of Hormuz would be completely closed, all Israeli power plants and energy infrastructure would become targets, and US-affiliated companies in the Middle East would be destroyed.
