Observing from the back of the pack initially, Kim began her acceleration with three laps remaining, moving into fourth place with two laps to go. As the bell for the final lap rang, she made a decisive overtake on the outer lane, narrowly beating the Netherlands' Xandra Velzeboer by a mere 0.009 seconds to cross the finish line first. Lim Jongun Takes 1,500m Gold in Adult Debut
Eighteen-year-old men's national team ace Lim Jongun also secured a gold medal in the men's 1,500m event at the World Championships in Montreal.
