Hanwha Eagles Lose 2-1 to SSG, First Sell-out Crowd for Exhibition Game
'White' Pitchers Face Off in Exhibition Game
Today, the Hanwha Eagles and SSG Landers clashed in an exhibition game at Daejeon Hanwha Life Eagles Park. Both teams put their foreign pitchers, Owen White (Hanwha) and Mitch White (SSG), on the mound for a 'White Day' showdown. Both pitchers delivered strong performances, each throwing 73 pitches over 4 and 2/3 innings. The close contest saw SSG emerge victorious with a 2-1 score, decided by a solo home run from SSG's Ko Myeong-jun in the top of the ninth inning.
Stadium Fills with Eager Fans
Despite being an exhibition game, 17,000 spectators flocked to the Hanwha Eagles' home stadium, marking the first sell-out crowd for an exhibition game this year and demonstrating the fervent passion for baseball. Fans, having waited through the off-season, enthusiastically cheered for their team. They expressed hopes that the Hanwha Eagles would win the championship this season, following a disappointing runner-up finish last year. Hanwha will continue to play exhibition games in Daejeon until March 19th, then kick off their regular season with a home opener on March 28th.
