50 Overseas Filipino Workers from Kuwait Transferred to Saudi Arabia, Awaiting Repatriation
Repatriation Efforts Underway for OFWs in the Middle East
Patricia Yvonne Caunan, Administrator of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), announced that 50 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from Kuwait have been safely transported to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. These workers, part of the first batch, are expected to return to the Philippines via government-chartered flights in the coming days. Caunan emphasized that these efforts are a testament to the collaborative work of the 'One Country Team,' which includes the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and OWWA.
Comprehensive Support and Future Repatriation Plans
Caunan also noted that additional repatriations are being facilitated from countries like Bahrain and Qatar. The government is committed to providing comprehensive support to returning OFWs, which includes reintegration assistance and financial aid. This encompasses domestic transportation, flight tickets, and hotel accommodation if flights are scheduled for later dates. Caunan reiterated that these initiatives align with President Lee Jae-myung's directive to ensure the safe return of all Filipinos who wish to come home and to provide them with necessary government services upon arrival. Further announcements regarding upcoming chartered flights from the Middle East are anticipated.
