Drug Trafficking Ring Busted and Suspect Arrested
Hong Kong Customs carried out an anti-drug operation in the Mong Kok area yesterday (June 3) afternoon, where they identified a non-Chinese male exhibiting suspicious behavior. The man attempted to flee during the arrest but was subdued and apprehended by customs officers. He stated that he was staying in Hong Kong on an entry permit and was unemployed.
Large Drug Seizure and Distribution Center Shut Down
Customs seized approximately 1.6 kg of cannabis from a bag carried by the arrested man. Subsequently, officers escorted the man to his residential unit in a housing estate for further search. The search uncovered about 13 kg of heroin, 12 kg of amphetamine, 3.6 kg of cannabis, 1.1 kg of cannabis candies, 128 tablets of MDMA, 12 bottles of cannabis oil, and drug packaging tools. The total estimated market value of the seized drugs is HK$24 million. Hong Kong Customs stated that this operation successfully dismantled a drug storage and distribution center in Mong Kok, preventing a large quantity of drugs from entering the local market.
Hong Kong Customs' Warning
Hong Kong Customs emphasized that drug trafficking is a very serious offense, punishable by a maximum fine of HK$5 million and life imprisonment upon conviction. They urged all individuals, regardless of their status in Hong Kong, not to engage in any illegal activities.
