Former CCI Chairman Dhanendra Kumar Dies in Delhi House Fire
Dhanendra Kumar, an 80-year-old retired IAS officer and the first chairman of the Competition Commission of India (CCI), passed away in a fire incident at his residence in Delhi's Hauz Khas. The fire is suspected to have been caused by an AC blast, leaving significant damage to the house. According to police, the incident occurred around 11:18 PM on Thursday, with a total of five people, including family members and domestic staff, present in the house at the time.
Suspected AC Blast and Damage Assessment
The fire, believed to have originated from an air conditioner blast, resulted in extensive damage, including charred walls and broken windows. The room where Dhanendra Kumar was located was completely burnt, with only debris and scattered wires remaining. Kumar was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment. His son also sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical care. Fire and police officials conducted investigations at the scene, though the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
