Surge in Sexual Harassment Reports by Men in Malaysia
Malaysia has seen a growing number of sexual harassment complaints involving male victims in recent years. Since 2024, more than 1,000 complaints involving male victims have been lodged through the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry’s complaints mechanisms. Minister Nancy Shukri described this figure as a sharp increase in reports.
Erosion of Stigma and Changing Perceptions

It suggests that male victims are becoming more comfortable reporting incidents as societal barriers diminish, indicating a broader shift in how sexual harassment is perceived and addressed within the community.
