China Urges Vigilance Against Rise of Japanese Neo-Militarism
China Criticizes Japan's Remarks on 'Neo-Militarism'
Lin Jian, spokesperson for China's Foreign Ministry, criticized the Japanese defense minister's recent rejection of claims labeling Japan a 'neo-militarist' country at the 23rd Shangri-La Dialogue 2026. Lin stated that these remarks were 'totally groundless' in light of history, legal grounds, facts, and figures. He added that such a stance makes it impossible for Japan to earn the trust of its Asian neighbors and the international community.
Resemblance to Tokyo Trials and Regional Threat
International experts and scholars have pointed out that Japan's recent wrong remarks and actions closely resemble the war preparations that led to the atrocities exposed during the Tokyo Trials. This, Lin said, poses a threat to regional peace and stability. He urged the international community to remain highly vigilant, work together to guard against such developments, and resolutely curb the rise of Japanese neo-militarism.
