BJP Attacks Congress for 'Appeasement Politics' After Kerala CM Pick
BJP's Criticism of Kerala CM Appointment
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a sharp attack on the Congress after V D Satheesan was chosen as Kerala's new Chief Minister. The BJP alleged that the Congress leadership had bowed down to the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and could not survive in Kerala without its support. BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari claimed that the new Congress Chief Minister was not the choice of the Congress MLAs but that of the IUML, labeling it 'appeasement politics.'
IUML Defends Satheesan's Appointment
In response to the accusations, IUML MP Haris Beeran defended the decision by the Congress high command as an apt one. He stated that although it took 11 days, they considered the views of everyone, including their allied parties. Beeran added that Satheesan was the leader of the opposition, who led the elections and fought against the CPI(M) government, and the public opinion was entirely in his favor.
