West Bengal Repolling Underway, Voters Queue Despite EVM Glitches
Repolling Progresses in West Bengal Constituencies
Repolling is currently underway in West Bengal, with voters returning to booths in Magrahat Paschim and Diamond Harbour constituencies. A total of 15 booths are involved: 11 in Magrahat Paschim and 4 in Diamond Harbour. Central forces have been deployed to ensure security at these sensitive locations, and webcam surveillance has been implemented to monitor the voting process. Despite some initial delays caused by EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) malfunctions, voting has resumed smoothly, with long queues of citizens waiting to cast their ballots.
Political Reactions and Voter Turnout
Many voters arrived with the Election Commission (EC) issued slips, indicating their readiness to participate despite the inconvenience of repolling. Suvendu Adhikari, the Bengal Leader of Opposition, welcomed the EC's repolling decision and assured that polling agents would be present at every booth. Conversely, Shashi Panja, a Bengal Minister, accused the BJP of provoking other parties during the original polls and suggested that the extensive repolling was part of the BJP's strategy. Regardless of the political rhetoric, voters have demonstrated their commitment to the democratic process by turning out in significant numbers.
