Half of Teenage Girls Consult AI for Worries, Under 30% for Men
AI as a Worry Consultant Popular Among Teenage Girls
A survey conducted by Japan's Cabinet Office Consumer Committee on generative AI revealed that over half of teenage girls, 52.4%, use AI for worry consultation. This indicates that AI is becoming a trusted partner for young women beyond academic and work support. In contrast, men across all age groups showed less than 30% utilization for worry consultation, with the highest being 29.1% among men in their 30s.
Overall AI Usage and Trust Levels
The online survey, conducted in February, included a total of 1442 generative AI users, with 103 men and women from each age group, from teens to over 70. The most common purpose for AI use was information search and research (76.4%), followed by text creation and editing (33.9%), and worry consultation (23.3%). Notably, 38.6% of respondents 'highly trust' or 'somewhat trust' AI's advice on human relations and social interactions. Trust levels were higher among younger generations, reaching 63.1% for teenage girls.
