Hong Kong Fanling Bypass Eastern Section to Open in May 2026, Reducing Travel Time by 10 Minutes
Fanling Bypass Eastern Section Nears Completion
The Civil Engineering and Development Department of Hong Kong announced that the eastern section of the Fanling Bypass will officially open on May 3, 2026, at 8 AM. This road, approximately 4 kilometers long, stretches from Tai Po Kau Lung Hang to Sha Ho New Village in the Fanling North New Development Area. Upon completion, it will mark the first major transportation infrastructure project to be commissioned in the Northern Metropolis.
Alleviating Congestion and Enhancing Connectivity
The new bypass is anticipated to reduce travel time by 10 minutes compared to the existing routes. The current Ma Wo Road and Sha Tau Kok Road have experienced severe congestion during peak hours due to high traffic volume and numerous traffic lights. The new road is expected to alleviate this traffic burden. Furthermore, it will improve accessibility to Lung Yeuk Tau and surrounding rural areas via the Lung Yeuk Tau Interchange, thereby enhancing regional connectivity.
