Toys 'R' Us Hong Kong Shifts to Compact, Experience-Focused Stores
Toys 'R' Us Pivots to Experience-Focused Compact Stores
Hong Kong-headquartered Toys 'R' Us Asia is shifting its strategy towards an experience-focused format and smaller stores in the city. This move is part of an expansion program designed to increase its outlets in response to the changing retail landscape. Leo Tsoi, CEO of the toys and collectibles retailer, stated that the group plans to operate 20 stores in Hong Kong by the end of 2026, representing a 40% rise from 2025.
Strategy Targets 'Kidults' and Demographic Shifts
This strategic pivot allows the group to be more agile and better adapt to evolving consumer behaviors, including significant demographic shifts. The emphasis on smaller, experience-driven stores is aimed at catering to various market segments, including the growing 'kidult' demographic, which increasingly seeks out toys and collectibles.
