AI Integration into Curriculum and Readiness
The Ohio University Board of Trustees, during meetings on April 16 and 17, learned about ongoing efforts to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the curriculum. Executive Vice President Don Leo and Associate Professor Paul Benedict presented on the university's AI readiness, outlining strengths in AI for teaching and learning, associated risks, and recent investments. The university emphasizes a "human-first AI" approach, encouraging innovation across disciplines while prioritizing ethical AI use and critical thinking.
Sports Administration and University Development Plans
The Board also heard from faculty and students in the sports administration program regarding industry trends and experiential learning opportunities. Slade Larscheid, Director of Athletics, provided an update on Ohio University's Intercollegiate Athletics, including the "Stand Up for Ohio Football" giving campaign. Additionally, the Board approved proposals to rename 35 Park Place to The Burtch House, honoring Bruce and Janie Burtch, and to establish the David N. Keck Center for Applied Mathematics, recognizing David N. Keck. Student trustee Pankaj Karna was honored with a certificate of appreciation for his dedicated service.
