Condemnation of Attacks on Peacekeepers
More than 65 UN member states have signed a joint statement condemning recent attacks against UN peacekeepers in Lebanon. Reporter Gabriel Elizondo highlighted that three Indonesian peacekeepers have been killed in recent weeks, while others from Nepal, Ghana, France, and Poland have been seriously injured. The danger to peacekeepers is increasing as Israel's attacks on Lebanon continue.
Humanitarian Concerns and Call for Peace
Umar Hadi, the Indonesian Ambassador to the UN, expressed deep concerns over the humanitarian situation in Lebanon, citing significant civilian casualties, extensive destruction of civilian infrastructure, and the mass displacement of over one million people. Ambassador Hadi called for a cessation of hostilities in Lebanon, de-escalation of tensions, and for all parties to return to the negotiating table.
