AI Productivity Surges Amid Infrastructure Limits; Hong Kong Construction Accelerates AI Adoption
AI Productivity Paradox and Infrastructure Limits
The widespread adoption of AI agents has led to an explosive increase in Artificial Intelligence (AI) productivity. However, the computational infrastructure and security systems required to support this growth are reaching their limits. As 'tokens,' representing AI usage, emerge as a new competitive metric, the 'AI productivity paradox' is materializing, where increased productivity correlates with higher costs and risks. According to the IT specialized media 'The Information', major companies like Microsoft are facing these challenges.
Hong Kong Construction Sector's AI Transition Efforts
The Hong Kong construction industry is proactively working to avoid being left behind in the AI era. The Hong Kong Construction Industry Council has declared this year the 'Year of Artificial Intelligence' for the construction sector, unveiling 50 AI solutions covering eight different areas. These include the application of AI in planning, design, procurement, safety, and full lifecycle maintenance. Cheng Dingfu, the Executive Director of the Construction Industry Council, stated that various AI training programs would be launched to help professionals adapt to the AI era and support industry transformation.
