DoS Attack Attempted to Disable Rival's Website

Usal Denis Kenichi, CEO of an IT-related company in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, along with another individual, was arrested on suspicion of obstructing business operations by launching a DoS attack on a rival company's website in May of last year. According to the police, the suspects allegedly used an automated program to carry out approximately 8,600 attacks over 10 hours. A DoS attack is a type of cyberattack that overloads a server with a large volume of data, temporarily paralyzing the system.

Suspect Partially Denies Allegations

During police questioning, Usal denied some of the allegations, stating, "I only conducted a speed test, and I didn't think the site would stop working to this extent." The police believe the two suspects aimed to disrupt the rival company's services and business activities through the cyberattack and are investigating the full extent of the incident. The charges include obstruction of business by damaging electronic computers.
