Japan's Largest Humanoid Robot R&D Base Unveiled
GMO Internet Group today opened Japan's largest research and development base for humanoid robots, aiming for their widespread implementation in society. Located in Cerulean Tower in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, the base is operated by GMO AI & Robotics Corporation. Various humanoid robots were on display, showcasing the research and development efforts of the engineers.
'Physical AI' for Robot Workforce Deployment and Utilization
GMO believes that Physical AI will drive the next technological revolution and is therefore pursuing a robot workforce dispatch business. To achieve this, the company is procuring high-performance robots and developing systems that enable them to perform tasks in real-world environments. The plan is to introduce an additional 100 robots to this base to accelerate research. Practical trials with humanoid robots have already begun in manufacturing and logistics, with GMO stating its intention to actively use robots to address issues such as disasters, hazardous environments, and labor shortages.
