Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra Blends Animation and Music to Attract Young Audiences
Animation and Orchestra in Harmony
The Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra, celebrating nearly five decades, presented a special concert featuring Mussorgsky's 'Pictures at an Exhibition' through a blend of live orchestral performance and animated projections. This innovative approach was designed to attract younger audiences by offering a simultaneous auditory and visual experience. The late former music director, Dr. Yip Wai Hong, was reimagined as an animated character, leading the audience on a journey through the artwork depicted in 'Pictures at an Exhibition'. The interplay of light and melody guided viewers through a rich musical world.
Paganini Concerto and Special Performances
The first part of the concert featured Italian composer and violinist Paganini's 'Violin Concerto No. 2'. The solo violin part was performed by the orchestra's Artistic Director and Principal Violist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Ng Hiu-yau. This unique concert was captured and presented by RTHK's 'Arts On Air: Open Stage' program, showcasing the orchestra's continuous efforts to promote music to the wider public and engage new generations through creative performances.
