Vietnam Boosts AI Capabilities in Era of AI Economy
'AI Day 2026' Held to Explore AI Capability Enhancement
Vietnam is stepping up its efforts to enhance AI capabilities in the era of the artificial intelligence economy. On the morning of April 4, Hanoi University of Science and Technology and STEAM for Vietnam, in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy and Consulate General in Vietnam and the National Innovation Center (NIC), organized the 'AI Day 2026: Promoting Vietnam's AI Capabilities in the Era of the Artificial Intelligence Economy' event in Hanoi. The event was attended by numerous policymakers, technology experts, educators, journalists, and medical professionals, including Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, to discuss ways to improve AI capabilities within Vietnam's workforce and community.
Innovation in Higher Education and Strengthening National Competitiveness
Associate Professor Nguyen Phong Dien, Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, emphasized that AI is fundamentally transforming higher education. The university views AI not just as a field of education and research but as a strategic driving force to promote comprehensive innovation across the university, including educational programs, learning methods, research activities, and governance models. Vo Xuan Hoai, Deputy Director of the National Innovation Center, stated that Vietnam considers AI as a priority sector and a strategic pillar for forming a new growth model based on scientific and technological innovation and digital transformation. AI is also expected to play a crucial role in reshaping national competitiveness in the digital age. These efforts aim to make AI a driving force for Vietnam's rapid and sustainable growth.
