Gaza Infants Evacuated During Israel-Hamas War Return to Families
Infants Separated by War Return Home
Just one month after the Israel-Hamas war began, ten premature infants from the Gaza Strip, who were evacuated to Egypt, have returned to their families after two and a half years. Mother Ola Hijji described reuniting with her son, Sulaiman Hijji, as an 'indescribable and beautiful feeling,' expressing gratitude to God. Father Jabr Bader shared that his son, Ibrahim Bader, was initially in Al-Shifa Hospital and a month later was located in Egypt. He recounted maintaining contact with the doctor for two and a half years and being in disbelief that his son is now by his side.
Emotional Reunions Amidst Loss
Dr. Ahmed Al-Farra, Head of the Pediatrics Department at Nasser Hospital, stated that unfortunately, about four babies were lost in Egypt, but the ten children who returned today are in good health. These children, from various areas of the Gaza Strip, including Khan Younis and Rafah, have been reunited with their families after enduring difficult times. While families expressed immense joy at the reunion, they also conveyed sadness over the past years and concerns about the future of Gaza in a transformed post-war landscape. The reunions were poignant moments filled with many messages of sorrow and the happiness of reconnecting with loved ones.
