Madrid Activists Protest US Sanctions on Cuba
Protest Against US Sanctions and Solidarity with Cuba
On March 23, 2026, activists in Madrid, Spain, gathered outside the US embassy to protest the US sanctions that have led to electricity blackouts in Cuba. Protesters carried anti-imperialist signs and banners expressing solidarity with 'Cuba and its Revolution'. They criticized the United States for preventing Cubans from buying necessities and for allegedly carrying out assassinations worldwide. One protester stated, 'It's outrageous, it's reckless that the United States keeps murdering people in every country and is preventing Cubans from being able to buy things. It's unheard of. And who is the US? Is it the king? Is it God? Or who is the US to stop the Cuban people from buying things and making a living?'
Decades of Blockade and Humanitarian Crisis
The protesters highlighted that the US has been suffocating Cuba with a blockade for over 60 years. They emphasized that this latest energy blockade measure is causing all public services to crumble, especially impacting the most vulnerable. Despite this, they noted that the Cuban government is still taking measures to protect its most vulnerable citizens. The activists expressed their extreme anger with the US, accusing it of a 70-year attempt to massacre and wipe out the Cuban people and of carrying out killings across the globe.
