Hong Kong's Secretary for Health, Lo Man Kin, has expressed serious concern over the recent surge in monkeypox infection cases in the United Kingdom. According to information exchanged with the World Health Organization (WHO) and UK health authorities, 29 cases of infection have been confirmed in the UK so far, with two resulting in fatalities. Lo Man Kin warned that the number of infected individuals could continue to rise.

Lo Man Kin outlined the main symptoms of monkeypox as sudden fever, severe headaches, and the appearance of rashes on the body. Consequently, Hong Kong health authorities are strongly advising citizens to diligently implement preventive measures. Key prevention guidelines include obtaining immunity through vaccination and maintaining stringent personal hygiene. He specifically urged the public to wear masks and take other protective measures in crowded areas, and to seek medical attention immediately if symptoms appear.
