Secretary Remulla stated that these officials were caught due to their greed, and their actions opened the door for their prosecution. He emphasized that he would pursue legal action against all those involved in this corrupt scheme within the BFP.

Secretary Remulla criticized the pervasive corruption within the BFP, which he linked to the shortage of essential fire-fighting equipment. He highlighted that while firefighters risked their lives on the ground, high-ranking officials were enriching themselves through fraudulent procurement processes. Remulla also exposed instances where officials allegedly extorted bribes for fire inspection permits, calling it a deception of the public.
