East Coast Australia Power Bills Expected to Fall by Up to 10% from July
Anticipated Power Bill Reduction in East Coast Australia
Electricity prices on Australia's east coast are projected to decrease starting from July. This anticipated reduction is attributed to increased output from wind generation and batteries, coupled with falling electricity contract prices. Some small businesses could see savings of up to $1,320.
Regulator Proposes Price Decreases
In a draft decision issued on Thursday, the Australia Energy Regulator (AER) proposed a price reduction for customers on standing electricity plans, known as the 'default market offer'. For residential customers, the proposed decrease ranges from 1.3% to 10.1%, while small businesses could see reductions between 8.5% and 21.2%, depending on the region. This move is expected to bring 'welcome relief' to households and businesses across Australia.
