Quezon City Fire Victims Set Up Temporary Shelters on Pinyahan Road, Urge Housing Solutions
Fire Victims Live in Temporary Shelters
Families who lost their homes in a large fire on March 6 in Barangay Pinyahan, Quezon City, have set up temporary shelters on NIA Road. They are living in makeshift structures made from salvaged materials and tarpaulins. Residents, including Roy Daque, reported significant difficulties, including all their belongings getting wet during rain and constant dust. Daque emphasized the urgent need for government housing assistance. The fire affected a total of 2,800 families, with approximately 700 families still residing in 10 evacuation centers across Quezon City.
Demand for Transparency in Housing Assistance
Fire victims are calling for transparency in the housing programs provided by the government and the National Housing Authority (NHC). Maria Jessica Uybocho expressed her desire for a public beneficiary list to ensure fair distribution of aid, alleging that some ineligible individuals are receiving assistance. Residents demand clear information regarding who qualifies for aid and when housing constructions will begin. The affected families are struggling with their children's education and livelihoods, urgently appealing for prompt and transparent housing solutions from the government.
