Hong Kong Unveils First 24-Hour AI Smart Food Robot
Hong Kong's First 'Smart Food Robot' in Operation
Hong Kong has launched its first 24-hour, fully automated 'HEYFOOD Smart Restaurant Robot,' offering freshly prepared and sold hot meals. This marks a significant step in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the traditional catering industry, having received the first 'all-time variable temperature' license from the Hong Kong Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD). Located in Tai Po's Fortune Plaza, the robot offers over 30 rotating dishes, including noodles, wontons, and snacks.
Rapid Service and Market Expansion Goals
This smart food robot can process orders and dispense food in as little as 3 minutes, with prices ranging from HK$20 to HK$40. For the first month, all items are offered at a 20% discount. The mainland AI kitchen company behind the initiative aims to progressively expand its smart catering market in Hong Kong and use the city as a gateway to promote its business footprint overseas. FEHD Director Ng Man Kit welcomed the project's successful launch, expressing anticipation for further technological applications and service enhancements in the catering industry.
