Synagogue Attack Occurs
A vehicle ramming attack occurred at a synagogue in West Bloomfield, near Detroit, Michigan. According to the Oakland County Sheriff, the suspect drove a vehicle into the synagogue building, damaging doors and hallways. During the incident, a security guard was struck by the vehicle but is reported to be in stable condition and recovering from non-life-threatening injuries. No other casualties have been reported so far.
Suspect Fatally Shot, Investigation Underway
Following the incident, a synagogue security guard confronted the suspect and fatally shot them. Police are currently searching the area around the synagogue and have advised everyone within a 1-mile radius to shelter in place. Investigators discovered explosive material in the suspect's vehicle, but it is not yet clear whether it was a functional explosive device. The Sheriff stated that they are also investigating the possibility that the material may have been ignited inside the synagogue. All individuals at the daycare and kindergarten located next to the synagogue were safely evacuated. The FBI will lead the investigation into this incident.
