Iran Warns 'Full-Scale War Resumption' if Beirut Attacked
Iran Warns Against Attacks on Beirut
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned on Wednesday that any Israeli attack on Beirut, amid escalating operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon, would trigger a "full-scale resumption" of the Middle East war. He emphasized that the fate of the war between Iran, Israel, and the United States is inseparable from the fate of the battle in Lebanon, adding that an attack on Beirut would lead to severe consequences.
Demand for Israeli Withdrawal and US-Israel Talks
Araghchi stated that Iranian forces are prepared to attack Israel if Israel strikes Beirut. He insisted that for the war in Lebanon to end, Israeli forces must withdraw from Lebanon. Meanwhile, Israeli and Lebanese diplomats were scheduled for a second day of direct talks in Washington. Prior to these talks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told CNBC that he shares the goal with US President Trump of "disarming Hezbollah and... demilitarizing Lebanon."
